Kyu Yamamoto
Kyu Yamamoto was born in Nagoya, Japan and graduated from the Asahi Gaoka Fine Arts High School before entering Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts to focus on sculpture. Kyu moved to Nashville, TN and in 1990 unveiled his first public commission, the Athena Parthenos, a massive three story marble figure. In 1994, Kyu moved to St. Petersburg, FL where he continued to produce poignant and imaginative public commission work including Dignity, a Firefighter Memorial; Education, Nurtuing, Imagination at the All Children’s Hospital Garden of Hope; and Representative C.W. Bill Young Portrait. Kyu is on the Board of Trustees and also is a teacher at the Arts Center in St. Petersburg.
