Jeff Cornell
In all my works, I want and try to make smoky monochromatic looking rooms or rooms or spaces that feel romantic and give a feeling of something wrapping itself around the you.
I have studied the works of Klimt and Schiele and I love their drawing. Monet, Manet, Bonnard, and Vullard, and my favorite Degas. The American impressionists, however, are what really move me. Sam Tarbell, Roberson, Thomas Dewing and William Paxton especially.
I call my work Pastel Drawing Paintings because I feel they are painting in pure pigment—I sue pastel pencil 90% of the time and I consider myself a drawer more than a painter.
